Why traders move a strategy from TradingView to MetaTrader
Pine Script is excellent for building and checking an idea. Running it live is another matter: a TradingView strategy places real orders only through alerts and webhooks passed to something else, and that something else decides how orders are sent, retried and protected. An MQL5 Expert Advisor does all of that itself, on a VPS, with tick-level control and nobody needing to be at the screen. If you trade forex, gold or CFD indices through a MetaTrader broker, converting the strategy is usually the step between "it works on the chart" and "it trades while I sleep".
Not sure the move is right for you? The trade-offs are set out in Pine Script vs MQL5.
How a conversion is done
- Free review. Send the Pine Script source, or a published script link if you have the rights to it. Within 12 hours you get a feasibility read, a fixed price and a timeline.
- Logic audit. Before any MQL5 is written, the Pine code is checked for repainting, unclosed-bar evaluation and
request.security()look-ahead. Converting a repainting script faithfully just moves the problem to a new platform, so you are told first. - Rebuild in MQL5. Indicator calculations, entry and exit conditions, and the behaviour of Pine's
strategy.*order settings — pyramiding, order timing, close-of-bar processing — reproduced explicitly. - Parity check. The EA and the original script run over the same period and every signal is compared. Where they differ, you get the reason in writing.
- Live hardening and handover. Error handling, restart-safe state, broker symbol handling and risk guards added, then source, compiled EA, tester report and settings guide delivered.
Why signals sometimes differ — and what we do about it
"Bar for bar" parity is the goal, and on the same data it is achievable. A few differences come from the platforms rather than the code, and you deserve to know about them in advance:
- Different price feeds. TradingView's data source for a symbol and your MetaTrader broker's feed are rarely identical. Small price differences can flip a signal that sits right on a threshold.
- Session and time zone. Daily bars and session windows start at different times depending on the broker's server time, which changes where daily highs, lows and opens fall.
- Intrabar fills. TradingView's tester approximates what happens inside a bar; MetaTrader can replay real ticks. Exits that hit both stop and target in one bar may resolve differently.
Each one is identified during the parity check and documented, so you know which differences are expected and which would be a bug.

Questions about converting a TradingView strategy
Can any Pine Script be converted to MQL5?
Almost any strategy or indicator logic can. The exceptions are features that only exist on TradingView, such as some of its built-in data sources, which may need a substitute. If something can't be reproduced, the free review says so before you pay anything.
Will the MT5 version give exactly the same signals?
On the same price data, yes — that's what the parity check is for. Differences between TradingView's feed and your broker's feed can flip a borderline signal occasionally; those cases are identified and documented rather than hidden.
I only have a published script, not the source. Can you still convert it?
Only if the source is available to you and you have the right to use it. Protected or invite-only scripts can't be converted without the author's source code. If you can describe the rules precisely, the strategy can be built from that description instead.
Do I get the MQL5 source code?
Yes. You receive the commented .mq5 source, the compiled EA, a settings guide and the tester report, and you own them outright. An NDA can be signed before you share your script.
Should I backtest it again after conversion?
Yes, and every conversion includes a Strategy Tester run on your broker's data. If you want the strategy properly validated — costs, sensitivity and walk-forward — that's our strategy backtesting service.
